Is man free to choose between right and wrong?

Freedom is fundamental to a human being. From the moment we were born we are free to do what we want. However since we live in a society, our freedom is limited by laws that are designed to protect the rights and welfare of every citizen, as well as to maintain peace and order.
The same is true with God. God shows us what is right and what is wrong through His law - what leads to life and what leads to harm or death [Deu 30:19, Rom 7:7]. God urges us to choose life but nothing stops us from choosing death. However when judgment time comes God will recompense us according to what we did [Rom 2:6f]].
