“Iranian Justice Seeking University Students Movement and University Students Mobilization Basij will jointly sponsor International Conference on Israel’s End on May 26th, 2008″.
“The timing of the conference is adjusted to coincide with the sad 60th anniversary of Palestine’s occupation by the Zionists,” organizers told IRNA.
The report also states that the conference that will be attended by Iranian students and foreign students of Iranian universities will be joined by “intellectuals and university professors from Egypt, Venezuela, Morocco, Lebanon, Indonesia, the United States, Pakistan, Argentina, India, Iraq, Syria, Chile, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, France, Tunisia, and a number of other countries.”
This is but another attempt in a determined effort to wipe out Israel off the face of the earth that commenced almost as soon as the state was formed in November 1947.
What these people obviously do not realize is that they are unwittingly fulfilling a prophecy that was written some 3000 years ago by the Psalmist:
Psa 83:2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
Psa 83:3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
Psa 83:4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
Notice the phrases “cut them off from being a nation” and “the name of Israel… be no more in remembrance”. They sound almost like some recent pronouncements made against Israel by some personalities and extremist groups. Continuing with Psalms 83:
Psa 83:6 Tents of Edom, and Ishmaelites, Moab, and the Hagarenes,
Psa 83:7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia with inhabitants of Tyre,
Psa 83:8 Asshur also is joined with them, They have been an arm to sons of Lot. Selah.
Who are these people?
These are basically Arabic nations or tribes that surround the modern-day state of Israel. While non-Middle East groups are involved and are vocal in present-day cooperation against Israel, the abovementioned prophecy indicates that Israel’s immediate neighbors would be the main players. Here we read how these nations “consulted in heart together” – indicating that these nations would ultimately achieve some kind of unity [possibly fragile and short-lived] in their effort to topple Israel. This elusive unity of various tribes against Israel has never been achieved before – a clear proof that this passage is talking of some future alliance or cooperation, that may be catalyzed by some future events.
To what extent this coming confederation or alliance will succeed in toppling Israel remains to be seen. But Jesus Christ prophesied, 2000 years ago, that Jerusalem would ultimately be overrun by Gentiles, just before He returns.
…
Luk 21:23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
Luk 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
Christ describes it as a time of unprecedented distress or tribulation:
Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
…
Luk 21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Christ is referring to the terrible series of events described in Zechariah 14:
But this time around God will intervene. He would no longer tolerate the evil and terror that had long reigned on the earth. His judgment on nations that fought against Jerusalem would be dramatic and frightening:
…
Zec 14:12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
This is clearly yet future, for no such fearsome event had happened in history. As a result of God’s supernatural intervention, great fear and confusion will turn these hapless aggressors against each other:
And then Jerusalem will finally experience safety and peace that it never saw before:
Zec 14:10 All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin’s gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king’s winepresses.
Zec 14:11 And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited.
Did you notice that?
The Lord shall become “king over all the earth; in that day shall there be one Lord”.
Nations – including those that never believed Him and even fought Him – will finally recognize the true Christ and worship Him as their Lord and King. They will even observe God’s feast of tabernacles. Notice:
As can be expected, there would be some stubborn ones that would need to be nudged a little bit more:
Zec 14:18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Zec 14:19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
And so, with all opposition to Christ’s rule finally quelled, the elusive peace that the United Nations strove for many years to achieve, with little success, will finally fill the entire world:
Isa 2:3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
Isa 2:4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
May God speed up that glorious day!
